Hello all. This has to be one of the most interesting shows I've seen in a very long time. It's a Netflix original, and it's also described. It is a series of self-contained episodes each dealing with some really disturbing what-if senarios which could potentially occur in our not-so-distant future. It can be brutal at times, but it is also thought provoking and psychologically stimulating. Each episode touches on a different scenario. One example for instance is season 3, Episode 1, called Nose Dive. In it, social media has gotten to the point where a person can literally look at anyone on the street and view their social media profiles. A lot of what you can do in society, to the kinds of food you can order, to what kind of car you can rent or what house you can by is determined in large part by your social rating. For instance, a character who wishes to buy a particular house, but she only has a social rating of 4.2 out of 5 stars, and she needs a higher rating to qualify. The episode is basically doing all she can to raise her rating. it doesn't go well, and it's a little disturbing to see her mental deterioration and her desperation. People give each other ratings on everything, from the pictures and feeds on their profiles, to basic human interactions. It's a really fascinating and quite unnerving premmace. I can't describe all the episodes I've watched so far, but they have each been captivating in their own ways. seriously, if this even vaguely interests you, check it out. But maybe don't start with the first episode of season 1 if you're a bit squeemish. I'd love to get a discussion going, since my wife probably won't be watching this with me.

I tried to get into it but couldn't. I started with the episode you described and the girl was just too annoying. Then I trie another episode but it didn't hold my attention either. I ended up watching The Killing. Maybe it was just my mood. I've heard allot of people say they really like Black Mirror so maybe I'm just weird. lol

I watched the first series several years ago and enjoyed it. My favorite episode was "Fifteen Million Merits." If you have ever watched Barton Fink by the Coen brothers, this episode is similar in several ways. I tried downloading the next series from Blind Mice Mart but encountered problems. It's a lot like the Twilight Zone hosted by Rod Serling. I sure hope the few TWZ episodes I never got to watch when I was sighted will be audiodescribed someday. I also downloaded The Nightmare Worlds of H. G. Wells a few weeks back and enjoyed the four episodes. They are in the same spirit as TWZ and Black Mirror.

It's got a diverse range of episodes Sunshine. Might help to look at the descriptions to see if a particular description interests you.

Rascolnicov, I actually haven't seen that one yet. WHen I began watching it on Netflix, it started me on season 3. Originally I thought it was an issue with Netflix, but now I'm wondering if it's just some form of reversal of the usual structure. A mirror image. I've heard it stated one interpretation of the term Black Mirror is the cold reflection of a screen, like a phone or tablet when it is off. It makes sense, as visually its reflection is somewhat dark and sinister.
